Which website template service is the best: free, safe and search friendly?
If looking for a simple website template (4-8 pages), for a company, or affiliate program, which sites offer the best templates, whether free or low cost. Also, important is: the seo friendliness of the site templates, and reliability. We don't dont to develop another site in word press, or use the go daddy, or 1&1 templates. Which templates have you had any success with (or others to avoid)? Thanks in advance.

If you're still taking answers/suggestions on your question, then I have a few thoughts as well.

Along the lines of an earlier comment, the word "template" can be applied to several aspects of a website.
    1. A graphical template (i.e. Photoshop file) from which to design a site
    2. A Dreamweaver layer (per Edward R. Gurney comment) used to build out a site on that platform
    3. A pre-packaged site, built on a CMS (content management system) like Druple or WordPress, which comes with a design, back-end and everything plug-&-play.

I'm sure there are more uses for "template", but those are the most common. I would suspect that you're interested in #3, a fully designed, built and accessible site. Along those lines, there are two approaches - the database driven application (like Wordpress) or a site that is managed via FTP through a workstation-based software application (like Contribute).

Per reliability and minimal ongoing developer maintenance, I find that sites built on Dreamweaver templates for Contribute access to be pretty much bullet proof. Now, the number of Contribute-ready options in market that fit the #3 definition are few and pretty weak. So to go this route a designer/developer would need to be hired - hardly free. But the ongoing costs are virtually zero outside of hosting. In addition, the site structure can be kept clean, light and as optimized as technically possible.

Note: I'm a Dreamweaver/Contribute developer and have a bias for the platform.
