I'm currently using Contribute 3.0 and everything appears to be working fine. Do I NEED to upgrade to CS3 and/or is worth making the move? How much does is cost by the way?
    thanks, charlie_b

I just upgraded from 3.0 to CS3 myself. I had read that the browser engine was much improved and several workflow features, like integrating with other workstation applications, had been added.

I'm only 2 days in, but the move to Contribute CS3 seems to be well worth it already. When upgrading from an earlier version it only costs $79. The full version will be $169.

So one feature that I wasn't aware of until I bought it was that the integration with other applications ties in FTP access. For example, if you have a Word doc open, by simply pressing the "Publish to Website" button in the toolbar, a dialog box will open to connect to your server, browse folders and FTP the file to the server. Now that's a time saver! Not only that, but it will convert a Word doc to a PDF on the fly.

I've only briefly looked at the integration functions that allow you to take content from applications and apply them directly to new web pages in Contribute. I seems like a great feature, but I'm not familiar enough with it right now. I'll comment again when I learn more.

Anyone else with comments on Adobe Contribute CS3?

Contribute CS3 continues to be a worthwhile upgrade . . . or initial investment for that matter.

The roll-back feature is one that I haven't used much in the past, but recently turned on when upgrading to CS3. This feature is one of the many great advantages to using Contribute and has been available in all Contribute versions, not just CS3.

When enabled, Contribute will archive a specified number of previous versions of every page on the site. The ability for site administrators to "roll back" to an earlier version of a web page can be indispensable. This functionality can really boost confidence in editing your site. Make a mistake, loose some content? No sweat - just roll back to a previous version and try again.
